1.The most primitive fish is the hagfish which is now extinct mostly and some are living. They live buried in the sand and feed on dead fishes and scavangers. When hagfish find some fish they enter inside the fish through the mouth and eat the whole flash and leave only skin and bones.

Lamprey is another primitive fish which live in marine and freshwater and this fish preys upon the other fish for feeding and they attack the other fish with their teeth and lips and use their toung to rasp away scales of the prey fish. A very interesting fact of this fish is that it secretes the anticoagulant secretion through their salivary glands and feed on the blood of the prey. Anticoagulant secretion donot allow the blood to form a clot and blood flow continously.

Can fish also survive without water?

3. Yes,LungFish can survive without water during the period of stagnation and dry rivers and lakes through the method of aestivation for 6 months or more. Aestivation is a method in which lungfish burrow themselves in sand or mud and then breath with the lungs not with the gills. When conditions becomes favourable they emerge from burrow and starts the normal life.

4. Most of the fishes have the swim bladder which is gas filled sac or a baloon filles with air. This helps the fishes to maintain their boyancy in water means an upthurst from the water which helps to keep the fish stable.
