Which are the common human skin diseases?

There are many skin diseases which are common in humans and cause many problems and sometimes cause very severe skin problems and leave the mark on skin lifetime. Some diseases remain and effect for a very short time and some are permanent. These diseases can be life threatening if not cured properly.

1. Acne

Acne is the most common human skin disease and almost every person suffers from this skin problem in some part of his life.
Reason: Acne may cause due to the production of the excess oil in the skin and due to this bacterias can easily attack on the skin and dirt accumulated in the pores and results in the clogged pores which cause acne.
Hormonal imbalance during the teenage results in acne and adults can aslo experience this condition.
Types: Acne may be inflammatory or  noninflammatory. Acne have different conditions such as blackheads on the face, whiteheads, nodules(growth of abnormal tissues) and cyst( sac like pocket of membrane tissues which is filled with fluid).
Why we call acne type blackheads?
Noninflammatory acne are usually due to the blackheads and whiteheads.
Blackheads may be due to when a pore is filled by a combination of sebum and dead skin cells and it becomes clogged. The top of the pore is open and always oxidized with the air oxygen that's why looks black so we called these blackheads.
While the whiteheads mouth remains close and clogged with the sebum and dead skin cells.
                       
                                      

2. Blister

Fluid filled area which is clear just like the water on the skin and also in the mouth occurs. Blister may be smaller than 1 cm or it may be large sometimes.
Blisters are often annoying, painful, or uncomfortable but sometimes it is painless and can heal without any medications.
It may form on the skin due to friction between the foot and the shoes.

3. Herpes Simples

Herpes simplex virus also called  HSV, is an infection that causes herpes which are the cold sores near the lip area on the mouth or on some other part of the body. 

Types: There are actually 2 types of the herpes simplex virus. 

HSV-1: cause oral herpes, and is responsible for cold sores and fever blisters around the mouth and on the face and the person suffers from high fever.

Causes: This herpes may cause due to:

  1. Sharing the same utensils
  2. using same lip balm
  3. Due to kissing

                                   

HSV-2: cause genital herpes, and is responsible for genital herpes outbreaks. Near the genital areas infection results due to the bacteria build up on these areas and results in herpes.

Cause: HSV-2 is due to sexual contact with a person who has HSV-2. Approximately  20 percent of sexually active adults in the United States are thought to be infected with HSV-2. HSV-2 infections are spread through contact with a herpes sore.

Symptoms:

  • blistering sores filled with fluid (in or around  the mouth or on the genitals)
  • Patient feel pain during urination (genital herpes)
  • itching and irritation on affected area

4. Chicken pox

Chickenpox, is characterized by red blisters which cause itching that appear all over the body. A virus causes this condition. It often affects children and it is thought that every person in his life must experience the chicken pox either in the childhood or on some other part of their life.

It’s very rare to have the chickenpox infection more than once. And  the chickenpox vaccine was introduced in the mid-1990s, cases have declined.

                                      

Symptoms:

Most common symptom of chickenpox is itching on the skin and rashes.This disease is contagious for other people who live near the patient or come in contact with the patient can develop the same disease with the same symptoms.

The non-rash symptoms may last a few days and include: 

  • High fever
  • some headache
  • completely or partially loss of appetite
                                       
Cause of this disease:

A virus called Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is responsible for the chickenpox infection. Most cases occur through contact with an infected person. The virus is contagious to those around you which remain in contact physically with patient for one to two days before your blisters appear can suffer from the same disease. The virus can spread through:

  • Mouth saliva
  • during coughing
  • During sneezing
  • contact with fluid from the blisters

5. Hives:

Hives, also called as urticaria, are itchy, raised welts that are found on the skin. They are commonly red, pink, or flesh-colored, and sometimes they sting or hurt. Allergic reaction may cause the hives and due to the irritant in the environment. 

In many cases, hives are an acute  problem  which are temporary that may be alleviated with allergy medications. Most rashes go away on their own. However, chronic cases, as well as hives can be severe allergic reaction, are larger medical concerns.

Causes: Hives are caused by an allergic reaction  In an allergic reaction, human body begins to release histamines into your blood. Histamines are chemicals which body produces in an attempt to defend itself against infection  and to kill the agents from the outside environment. 

                                      

Exceptions: But in some people, the histamines can cause swelling, itching, and many of the symptoms that are experienced with hives. In terms of allergens, hives can be caused by factors which can cause allergy such as pollen, medications, food, animal dander, and insect bites.

 Hives may be due to  stress, tight clothes, exercise, illnesses, or infections. It’s also possible to develop hives as the result of excessive exposure to hot or cold temperatures or from irritation due to excessive sweating.
